How it works
- Measure and quoteWe measure the rooflines and look at the trees and bushes you want lit, then give you the price.
- InstallWe hang the lights so they run straight and even along every edge.
- Maintain all seasonIf a strand or section goes out, call or text and we fix it.
How much does Christmas light installation cost?
Roofline lights are priced by the foot: $5 per foot on the first story and $8 per foot on the second story. Worked examples at those rates:
| Example roofline | Math | Price |
|---|---|---|
| 120 ft, first story | 120 × $5 | $600 |
| 60 ft, second story | 60 × $8 | $480 |
| 100 ft first story + 40 ft second story | $500 + $320 | $820 |
These are examples, not quotes. Trees and bushes are priced when we see them, and your price is set after we measure. Ask about take-down when you book.
How to measure your roofline for lights
- Measure the eaves, the level edges where the gutters hang, with a tape or a measuring wheel along the ground below.
- Add the gables, the sloped edges. A sloped edge is longer than the width under it: on a common 6-in-12 roof pitch it's about 12% longer, so a 30-foot-wide gable has two edges of about 16.8 feet, roughly 33.5 feet in total.
- Keep the stories separate. First-story and second-story footage are priced differently.
- List the trees and bushes you want lit.

Clips, not nails: protecting your roof and gutters
Christmas lights should be clipped to the shingles and gutters, never nailed or stapled. A nail or staple through an asphalt shingle leaves a hole that water can follow into the roof deck, and pulling stapled wire down in January can tear shingle edges and gutters. Shingle maker CertainTeed's holiday-decorating guidance recommends plastic clips that grip the shingle edge or gutter lip instead. Ask any installer how the lights will be attached.
Lights that hook on the gutter add weight to it, so loose hangers and leaking seams are worth fixing first; gutter cleaning and gutter repairs before the lights go up keep leaves from packing behind the clips. If you're not sure the roof is in shape, a free roof inspection on the same visit tells you, and loose or sagging runs may need new seamless gutters.
